The course is facilitated by two experienced members and trainers from the Association of Professional Declutterers and Organisers (APDO). The course is open to APDO members and non-members and is held virtually over two sessions. It is an interactive, small group event with a maximum of 10 participants. We use discussion, small break-out room exercises, presentation slides, Q&A and personal reflection to help you discover the type of Professional Organising practice you would like to start and/or develop. You are not required to have set up your business yet to participate in this course.

- What Professional Declutterers and Organisers do and what types of clients they might work with
- Ways to work with clients
- Ways to manage specific client challenges
- An introduction to setting up systems to manage your business and what to charge
- Promoting your business to engage your first clients
Our courses have always been popular, so please book early.
When booking the course, you can choose to receive a welcome pack and workbook in the post, or a digital workbook sent via email to help you take notes and reflect on your learning. Whichever you choose, they will be sent to you in the week leading up to your course. We recommend that you are over the age of 18 to attend this course - there is no upper age limit!
Meet your trainers:
Caroline Rogers
Caroline set up Room to Think in 2013. Initially solely a professional organising practice, she has since added coaching, training, meditation, teaching and mentoring to her offering. All of Caroline’s work is founded in her area of research – positive psychology. She has published research on clutter and wellbeing. Caroline learned to train in the early 90s when she worked for an overseas aid charity preparing volunteers to work abroad, winning a National Training Award. She believes strongly in the power of ‘group’ and loves learning from co-trainers and participants. She’s a trained coach, with several hundred hours of coaching experience.
Kate Galbally
Kate Galbally is an award-winning Glasgow-based professional organiser & productivity coach and the founder of Better Organised. She has been involved in keeping family homes running smoothly since she was nineteen years old and is now dedicated to helping time-starved women to declutter, organise and simplify their homes so that they can focus on what matters most.
A proud member of the Association of Professional Declutterers & Organisers (www.apdo.uk) since 2017, Kate is now part of the APDO volunteer team helping with the member virtual meet ups.
In 2023, Kate joined the APDO training team to positively support other organisers with their professional development. With a background in training within corporate, public sector and charity settings over a 25-year period, she thrives on developing and delivering workshops, masterclasses and group training sessions to fellow declutterers & organisers.
Lisa Barrett
Lisa is an Independent Social Worker. Her career in adult social care spans more than 20 years, working across a range of services and leading large teams delivering assessment, support and community rehabilitation services for adults. She also has many years' experience as a safeguarding adults manager and continues to specialise in Mental Capacity Assessments for health and social care services. Lisa started her Professional Organising service in 2016, specialising in hoarding behaviour and the many complex reasons that lead to it. Lisa has worked with various charities to set up hoarding support groups and specialist hoarding support services, including developing and delivering training for staff in a range of topics. Lisa is a regular trainer with both APDO and Cruse Bereavement Support, where she is also a bereavement volunteer.
Lynda Wylie
Lynda has been decluttering and organising professionally since founding Tidy Rooms in 2012. She worked previously as a Volunteer Manager and Community Fundraiser for various national charities, training and enabling local people to organise fundraising events in their community. She loves delivering small group training and equipping others to go out with confidence and new skills. Since joining the APDO training team in 2020, Lynda has loved connecting with new and established organisers to encourage them on their professional journey. She is proud to have written the Paperwork Simplified course. Lynda enjoys being part of the APDO community having supported the conference team for 3 years and been an active member of the Surrey networking group for many years.
