CHF Decluttering was born following my own varied life experiences as a person with dyslexia, nearly 20 years working as an accountant, my own various living arrangements including being the youngest of 3 children to immigrant parents, and having volunteered with decluttering projects for nearly 2 years (including working behind the scenes during 4 episodes across 2 seasons of BBC's Sort Your Life Out).
I aim to inspire and encourage my clients to finally tackle their clutter obstacles together, to create a space that works for them and their household and equip them with tools to improve their personal wellbeing and keep their clutter at bay. See me as your accountable non-judgemental body double.
My approach to decluttering is not only about the physical “things” but the digital and financial ones too, not forgetting the mental ones which are attached to all “things” whether we are aware of it or not.
I believe that People and our Planet should be at the core of every decision made about the “things” we decide to keep, and the “things” we decide to let go of. Donating, selling and recycling physical items where possible, to avoid them ending up in landfill.
I am passionate about life and working with different people of all backgrounds and neurodiversity’s to live a life with less clutter.
Specialisms
Move Management
Growing up I had to coordinate two of my own family moves in 10 months due to emergency building works required. I had to move our family of five, where each family member had differing requirements and I had to make it all work.
Since then, I have helped friends and family coordinate their own home moves including retiring aboard which takes another level of organisation entirely.
Since launching the business, I have moved a young family from their two bedroom flat into their three bedroom house, helped a domestic abuse victim move into temporary accommodation and helped a professional uproot over 20 years of living in the UK to return home to another continent.
Photo Organising
Photography is a passion of mine, especially at any family or friends events such as weddings, christenings, etc and not to mention my travel photos. During a 4 month trip to South America, I took over 10,000 photos during that trip so you can trust me when I say I know how to organise photos.
Digital/computer organisation
Having worked as an accountant for nearly 20 years, digital and computer organisational skills were incorporated in my everyday and I was known for streamlining and adding value to existing folders configuration.
Christina has helped me sort out my many many photos. I had lots of digital photos stored on many different devices, and hard drives. I had tried to collate them and be efficient, but it was all a bit of a mess. Then Christina, with her very calm and efficient way, spent time, bringing them all together, making sure nothing was deleted until we were sure they were backed up and safe. With her friendly and approachable manner, it made, what could have been an absolute chore, into a very pleasant experience. It is such a relief to have my precious memories in a place that is easily accessible and organised. Thank you so much Christina.
Christina has been a friendly and an appropriate balance of gentle and firm in encouraging me to ‘DO BATTLE’ with a major avoidance, namely my garage. We have broken the tasks into little bits together, literally, as we have broken up wood, removed metal fixings, etc. I've been able to sell old things, re-purpose other things, find the floor and the back wall of the garage. The impact is spreading into pride in other areas of clutter. The whole process has happened to fit in with my work commitments and so it has not been rushed. However, I feel that once I have been able to reclaim the purpose and pride of the garage space, I will be more able to keep on top of it all. New life skills have been learnt. I don’t think I will ‘drop off’ Christina’s radar even after the process has been achieved… I suspect there will be the occasional… “How’s the garage looking?” Thank you, Christina. You have been a great support.
Christina has been amazing I can't recommend her highly enough! She has helped me declutter our entire house of 'stuff' that I've bought, collected, adopted, been gifted or fell in my basket! Stuff has slowly grown in the house over the years, and you don't realise until one day you can no longer push any more into the cupboards and drawers. Usually you can't find the thing you are looking for so you buy another one and when you sort out the cupboard you find you have three of them!!! We went through the house room by room. We pulled everything out and cleaned the drawer/cupboard and put the good stuff back. Everything has a home now and I can just open the door and easily find the item I want. Looking at the organised cupboard makes me smile. We went through the kitchen and got rid of all the out of date food. We can actually find items we want now rather than searching every cupboard. And I now know I do have three jars of beetroot so don't need to buy any more just yet!! The kitchen is laid out much better now and flows more easily. In the bedroom we tackled an area at a time the first day in here we did the built in wardrobe. At the end of the session I took 9 bags to the charity shop which felt good as I don't like to waste things that have life left in them. I no longer dread putting the washing away as there is now room to put it away! It feels amazing to open the wardrobe and look at the clothes that bring me joy and pick which one I fancy wearing today, Rather than looking at all the clothes that don't fit or I don't really like and just picking the same t-shirt cus it's at the top of the pile. If you have a lot of stuff in your home and don't know where to start give Christina call, she will help you every step of the way. She is lovely friendly and bubbly. She will assess the room you want to sort to and help you find clever solutions to fix the clutter issue. The only question is why didn't I do it sooner? My mind feels so much lighter. In the past I would have said but I like it or might come in , but now I ask myself: Do I actually like it? Will I actually wear or use it? etc. I don't know how but she has rewired my brain! If you want to do 'sort your life out' but don't want to be on TV? Call Christina!! What you waiting for??!!
