Kindred sorting
Ireland

At Kindred Sorting we compassionately and sustainably clear family homes.  I’m Anne Fennell and as a mam to four boys, I understand how organisation can help make life easier for everyone. The real learning for this business came when my parents died close together and I had to take their life’s belongings out of their home in order to make it market ready.

With sustainability and the environment deep rooted in my ethos, I aim to reuse, repurpose and donate items where possible.

With over twenty years working in paediatric nursing, fourteen of which were in Intensive Care, I have a huge understanding of how people process their emotions. I can help guide clients through this process in compassionate way and at their own pace.

Having completed an Associate Diploma in Interior Design in 2001 I have a keen understanding of space and an eye for how rooms should look and function.

Specialisms

Interior Design

Again with the course I did in interior design I can give advice with regard to flow of a particular room or if a client wants to change colours etc., after a room has been cleared or decluttered.

Selling Unwanted Items (e.g. eBay)

As I am passionate about sustainability I have gathered many contacts in the charity sector in order to donate items appropriately. I also have key contacts that can value items worth selling on. I am heavily involved in a local circular group where items are listed for free thus reducing any waste to landfill.

Home Staging

Having a Diploma in Interior design helps me to help my clients stage the inherited homes for resale if they need to do this. Equally if the property is to be used as a rental property I can guide the clients around furniture needed/ to be used and how to stage it to gain prospective tenants.

I wanted to write a review after availing of the services with Kindred Sorting recently. I was selling a home I inherited last year that had been a rental let for a long time while my Aunt was alive. I lived a distance away and was attracted to this service for 2 reasons. Firstly, that Anne was able to organise the sorting and removal of all items in the home and shed without me needing to be there throughout the process. Secondly, that this would be done sustainably which was extremely important to me. Not only did Anne meet these two expectations she greatly exceeded them. She was so professional and organised. She went through the whole house and shed and sent me a video so I could be clear about anything I wanted to keep. She outlined where items could be processed, sold or re used. Anne dealt with all removals and where ads were placed to sell or give away items, she handled all of that. Anything that could be recycled and avoid going to landfill was processed accordingly. She let me know where people took items for free who needed them, a lovely touch I appreciated. At the end Anne was clear with the time everything took for billing and itemised where everything went and their sustainable credentials. In a week, the whole process was completed and allowed me to meet my deadline with the sale of the property. I would most definitely recommend Kindred Sorting for its efficiency and how it took so much pressure off an otherwise stressful event. The pre and post video was great. The itemised email at the end showing how and where everything went was so helpful. Thank you to Anne and her team for a job well done. – Therese, Meath
Transformational is how I would describe Kindred Sorting’s services. I was left with a studio full of the tools of my husband’s livelihood when he died suddenly at age 50. Finding a way to sift through instruments, musical scores, hard drives and obscene amounts of cables was beyond me — I didn’t know where to start. Thankfully, Anne did. With equal parts compassion and pragmatism, she steered me through the sorting process. You never expect to go through your other half’s life’s work, but with Anne at the helm, the time flew and things seemed to disappear like magic. I felt supported through the entire process and will be eternally grateful to her. The studio space has been transformed for me and our kids, yet it still retains the essence of their dad. Anne brings positive energy and genuine care to everything she does. She’s clued in to what can be recycled and donated — and she definitely got more than she bargained for with the amount of cables and adapters we unearthed. She made light work of it. When she drove off with a brim-full boot, it felt like a weight had lifted. Kindred Sorting has done me a great service. — Aoibhe, Dublin
Anne helped me clear rooms in my house when my father passed away and my mother was hospitalised a few days later. While grieving the loss of my dad and visiting my mum everyday my house was last on the list of priorities and everything quickly backed up. I found it very overwhelming and couldn’t seem to tackle all the jobs that needed to be done. I was also embarrassed and apprehensive about showing someone my messy house. Anne was so kind and non judgmental. I think because she had been through something similar, she knows that awful embarrassing feeling. We quickly got to work. While I decided on what could be thrown out, Anne was busy sorting my “rubbish”, into recycling and being super mindful of its disposal. My room hasn’t looked so good in a very long time. I have been sleeping so much better as a result. I can’t recommend Anne enough. Whether it’s clearing a loved one’s house or your own, she’s just amazing. I was so hesitant about getting her or anyone in to help but it was the best idea, I’m so glad I did it. Thanks so much Anne –Shirley, Dublin
