Calm and Organised
United Kingdom

Welcome to Calm & Organised. I am Karen Williams, a Professional Organiser who will work with you to help you organise, and declutter and any of your home. I will help you create and implement simple systems for you to maintain when I am gone. I always work closely with my clients to understand and ensure that the needs of the whole family are met. When I leave, I get a great deal of satisfaction from the knowledge that I have given you a renewed sense of calm that will last.

About me

I am married with two adopted children and we live together in North Kent with our dog, Elvis. When I reflect back on my life, I recognise that I have always been motivated by wanting to help people solve their problems and overcome their challenges. I am a good listener, who provides a safe space where people can be heard, without judgement. Being kind is, and has always been extremely important to me and kindness is central to my professional ethos with Calm & Organised.

My Story

I had worked in international financial services for nearly 30 years when my company was bought out in 2021. I decided not to rush back into another financial role, but to pause and evaluate what makes me happy and brings joy to my working life. Three things stood out for me, which were organising, problem solving and helping others. I had a lightbulb moment after helping my elderly aunt, who suffers with Parkinson’s disease, organise her wardrobe. I knew then that becoming a Professional Organiser would be the perfect role for me. I took the decision to undertake the required training and join the professional body for Personal Organisers (ADPO). I established Calm & Organised in 2022 and have enjoyed every minute.

My Services

I am always committed and enthusiastic and willing to turn my hand to any organising/decluttering challenge, so please just ask me! My two adopted children have complex needs; both have diagnoses of ADHD and ASD, and I consequently have built decades of experience in supporting people with such conditions. I worked as a senior manager within the financial services industry for 30 years and I am therefore able to help you organise your finance and administrative documents, to help you feel in control and maximise your productivity. Over the last few years, I have also gained extensive experience of helping senior clients downsize and move into retirement properties.

I cover Kent, Medway, South London and South Essex, so please give me a call to find out how I can help you!

Specialisms

Move Management

I have extensive experience in helping with all aspects of moving home.  This includes decluttering/downsizing; helping my clients assess their possessions, donating unwanted items to charity, arranging charity furniture collections and clearance companies. Also helping to stage the home for sale and support to unpack on move day,  I am a partner with Senior Move Partnership, helping support clients in the move to retirement homes.

ASD

I have 2 adopted children who both have a diagnosis of ASD.  I have attended courses, conferences and support groups over the last 20 years to ensure I was able to provide them with the appropriate support.   Therefore I am very confident that my clients with ASD always feel supported, safe and comfortable when we are working together.

ADHD

I have 2 adopted children who both have a diagnosis of ADHD and so consequently I have built decades of experience in supporting people with such conditions.  I understand how I can best support them and work with them in a safe and non judgemental environment.

Digital/computer organisation

Working in Financial Services for 30 years means that I am experienced in managing all forms of paper and digital organisation.

"Using Calm and Organised, even for small jobs, helped me declutter and embrace my treasures! Karen was a pleasure to work with, she is blessed with patience as well as encyclopaedic knowledge.'
Karen Williams helped my mum with downsizing when leaving her bungalow to move into her new flat. She gave valuable advice and was excellent in taking some items away for charity herself. She helped with packing at the bungalow and unpacking at the flat and want over and above to ensure that everything was unpacked before she left mum's new flat, even though it was late in the evening. I would highly recommend, this caring and professional lady and her company.
I had Karen Williams to help with my dad's moving process. Karen was a wonderful help. She was so organised and efficient. I have been very stressed trying to sort out dad's belonging as he is down sizing from a 4 bed house, to a one bed. Nothing was too much trouble for her. She gave me so many ideas and even helped me empty the garage. She even took loads of stuff to the charity shops for me. She was lovely. I can not thank her enough. I highly recommend using the service if they are all like her.
