I retired after 31 years as a police officer in the Metropolitan Police Service, prior to retiring I decided that I wanted to continue helping people. I had previous experience of assisting friends and family declutter and organise their homes and businesses, also past colleagues with their paperwork. I have helped family members downsize, prepare for a move and get their homes ready for selling or renting. I also work alongside The Senior Move Partnership. There is nothing I love more than helping people and seeing their faces after after we have accomplished the task that had been put off for being too overwhelming.
I have first-hand experience of sorting out my parents and relatives possessions after they died so I know how difficult it can be to decide what to keep and what to dispose of and I am particularly aware of the sensitivities that follow bereavement. The Declutter Consultant is not about minimalism and throwing things away, but about helping you create a pleasant and manageable environment that you enjoy living in.
I have visited many different homes, varying in condition from perfect to complete chaos and helped a great deal of people with varied and diverse needs and circumstances, in short nothing now fazes me, so please don't think your house will be the worst I have seen.
I know that living in a cluttered environment can be an overwhelming and stressful experience. However, I also know how fantastic it feels once your space is decluttered, cleaned and organised. It literally feels like a weight has been lifted from you, an uplifting experience on a physical, mental and emotional level.
