  • Motivating Clients to Step into an Organised Future

Clients cannot move into an organised future without first asking the question “Who am I now?” The information gleaned from that question makes it possible for clients to align their belongings with their present situation.

Based on research on aging, life transitions, and the Stages of Change theory, I’ve developed “5 Truths” to make the life transition process easier. In this presentation, I’ll provide an overview of those 5 Truths and how they help clients navigate internal and external aspects of life transitions.

    Session Outline:
--Signs of client resistance and low motivation
--The Stages of Change theory and enhancing motivation
    --Three key components of alignment
    --The 5 Truths overview
    Using perspective work and story
    Tipping the motivational scale
    The “zombie apocalypse” technique
Envisioning the future to facilitate releasing the past
Providing structure for clients, but with a gentle touch
--Finding your “aha!” in the 5 Truths model.

Attendees will gain a better understanding of why clients resist letting go, as well as resources and strategies to guide clients towards greater readiness. Using compelling stories and audience interaction, I will help attendees experience the 5 Truths process and consider how to apply them for better client outcomes.

    (Wednesday AM Main Session)

Aligning Inside and Out: Case Studies on Life Transitions

Attendees will engage in three case studies covering three different topics and consider how they might handle the situation. We will look at how the 5 Truths process is applied, discuss solutions and strategies, and share new ideas that have been sparked during the workshop.
