Alzheimer’s Society is the UK’s leading dementia charity. We campaign for change, fund research to find a cure and support people living with dementia today. We are celebrating our 40th Year Anniversary.
Dementia is the UK’s biggest killer. Someone develops it every three minutes and there’s currently no cure.
We know it is scary facing up to it, but we must confront the biggest health and social care challenge of our time.
Thanks to your support, Alzheimer’s Society is facing dementia head on. Whether you’re a fundraiser, donor, partner, or affected by dementia in any way, we’re working with you to build a movement. Inspired by your voices, we’re leading the way in support, society and research.
We are calling on everyone to unite. Working together we know we will achieve our vision - a world without dementia.

Dementia Friendly Environments: How to support people to live well with Dementia
This session is aimed to help professional organisers work within homes of people living with dementia (with, or without a diagnosis) or worried about their memory. This will include examples of what may or may not be useful environmental alterations and key considerations in dementia friendly homes such as signage, colour coding and physical obstructions.
Prior to the conference, attendees will be encouraged to take our online dementia friends training; the conference session will build on this by discussing an overview of dementia as well as helpful communication tips and important signposting for people living with a diagnosis if they are not currently receiving support. We will leave space for questions from the audience if there are any specific elements which associates would like to discuss.
Key learning points
• Understand the 5 key messages of the Dementia Friends principles
• Have a good understanding of evidence based adjustments that can be made to make
