About Me

Professional organising made personal

I’m Julie, the founder of Space and Time Reclaimed. After 11 years managing retirement housing and supporting adults aged 55 to 100, I saw how much difference a calm, organised home can make - especially as we get older. I planned my move into professional organising while still working full‑time and completed a Professional Organising and Decluttering Diploma to prepare for the work I do now.

Many older adults want to organise their belongings but may feel overwhelmed or lack the physical ability to start. A lifetime of possessions reflects a life lived - not something to feel embarrassed about. I help clients sort items into what to keep, donate, recycle, sell, or pass on to loved ones. Once the bulk is organised, families often come together to go through the more personal things - photos, letters, keepsakes - without facing the initial volume alone. When my sister and I did this after my mum passed away, we shared memories we might never have revisited otherwise.

A big part of my motivation comes from my own experience. When my mum passed away, her house was full and I lived 200 miles away. For almost a year, most of my annual leave was spent travelling back and forth to sort through her belongings while juggling work and home. I genuinely enjoyed the organising - I always have (think changing rooms around!) — and I found it surprisingly rewarding to handle the paperwork for both probate and the house sale. The difficulty was the distance and the emotional weight of doing it with just my sister. It made me realise how invaluable it would be to have someone calm, practical, and respectful supporting you through that kind of task.

I also love helping people reclaim rooms that have slowly turned into storage spaces. Turning an unused room into a study, craft room, dressing room, or simply a calm, usable space again can make a real difference to daily life. Reclaiming space often leads to reclaiming time, energy, and peace of mind too.

What I can help with

I support people who feel overwhelmed by the volume of belongings in their home, or who simply don’t have the time, energy, or physical ability to tackle it alone. My work is gentle, practical, and always tailored to the person in front of me.

Why hire me

When you’re juggling work, family, and caring for ageing parents - often from a distance - it’s easy to underestimate how much time and money you’re already spending. I learned this myself. On my last visit to my mum’s house, I had to clear a garage and utility room. I asked my friend’s daughter to help, and together we finished in two days instead of three. That one saved day meant one less hotel night, fewer meals to buy, and less time away from home. She earned some money, and I saved both stress and expense.

It made me realise that doing everything alone isn’t always the most economical option. Sometimes the support you think you “can’t justify” is actually the thing that saves you time, money, and emotional strain. My role is to take on the practical work so you don’t have to shoulder it all yourself - with calm, respect, and no judgement.

A little more about me

Alongside running Space and Time Reclaimed, I work with alpacas on a local farm. I take visitors on walks and tours, and people often comment on how calming the alpacas are - even with their individual quirks and the occasional off day. There’s something steady and grounding about being around them, and I bring that same calm, patient energy into my organising work.

I’m honest, open, and practical by nature. I don’t believe in judgement, pressure, or perfection - just gentle, steady support that helps people feel lighter, clearer, and more in control of their space and their time.

After gathering 40 years plus worth of different pensions both private and work related I’m now entering the retirement stage. I had chucked the paperwork into a drawer and not really thought about it, I had no idea where to begin, especially after three surname changes two marriages and multiple home moves! Julie started sorting all the papers and tracing all pensions, then she put them all into a very manageable format for me to then deal with, giving me lots of options as to how to proceed in the best way for me. She actually loves doing all the sorting and is so efficient. If you have any questions, she is there to guide you nothing is too much trouble. What I thought would take all week was completed in three hours, I was very happy and relieved. I totally recommend her.” Adele Jones January 2026
