The APDO Board meets regularly to manage and develop the association together. Our amazing support team assist the board throughout the year and on smaller projects to drive the association forwards. Our administration team deal with all membership issues and administrative tasks for board members.
APDO Board members and the support team all give their time voluntary alongside running their own professional organising businesses.
We wouldn’t be where we are today without the dedication and enthusiasm of our volunteers since 2004. We also know we can continue to achieve great things, with your valued assistance. If you have a particular skill or background you’d like to share, do get in touch!
Volunteering with APDO brings a whole new angle to your decluttering and organising business. It often teaches you skills and knowledge that can be applied to your own business or that stretch you personally to expand as an individual.
If you’ve ever felt isolated running your (often ‘solopreneur’) endeavour then volunteering with APDO can provide that valuable connection and camaraderie reminding you that you’re part of a bigger picture! All the while you’re contributing to putting our industry firmly on the map!
If any of the following roles catch your eye we’d love to hear from you.
From all of us on the APDO Board, thank you and warm regards.
We will list formal ‘vacancies’ here but if you’d like to join the Board please don’t be shy to get in touch.
Contact email@example.com to have an informal chat about your skills, vision and enthusiasm that could help APDO thrive.
Social Media and PR roles (ongoing)
Social Media managers will post updates about APDO’s events, training courses and campaigns from APDO’s accounts to make sure the association and its members are seen by the public and press.
The Head of PR and Social Media & key board members will guide you on what needs posting but you will have responsibility for ensuring the message is published in accordance with the relevant platform’s style or requirements. You will support APDO members by liking, sharing and re-posting relevant posts on your particular platform.
There will be heightened social media activity in the run-up to our annual conference (March), Spring Clearing Week (March) and National Organising Week (November) but the Head of PR and Social Media will ensure evergreen content throughout the year for these platforms.
If you are interested in any of these roles please contact our Head of PR & Social Media on firstname.lastname@example.org
2019 Conference roles (19 & 20 March)
If you’d like to assist in the planning and preparation of the annual conference please contact Sammy Ryan, Head of Conference on email@example.com.
For anyone attending conference on one or both days and is willing to assist with some of the tasks onsite that make the event go smoothly we are looking for the following helping hands.
If you are interested in helping out please contact Sammy Ryan, Head of Conference on firstname.lastname@example.org to confirm which day(s) you are available to assist. Please advise if there are particular roles you’re best suited to but we’d be grateful of your flexibility to ensure the event as a whole goes smoothly.
Merchandising Manager (ongoing).
This volunteer would arrange for any APDO branded publicity to be produced ahead of conference (such as posters, car stickers, possibly personalised APDO branded t-shirts etc) as well as coordinate our roving APDO pop-up banners throughout the year as required by members for events.
Donate-a-Day coordinators for Spring Clearing Week / National Organising Week.
If you’d like to pull a group of APDO members together for a day during SCW then we have a guide on the members resource hub to help you do just that!
If you are interested in any of these roles please contact Hannah Young, Head of Partnerships and Campaigns on email@example.com
We would love to expand our resources on the Members Hub. The plan is to include a section for specialist support services (for clients & APDO members alike) including information on a range of topics such as Lone Worker Safety, H&S matters, Mental Health, Government and Emergency Services, Hoarding, ADHD / Chronic disorganisation, Infestations etc.
You would help us develop this directory by:
1. collecting ideas from the wealth of knowledge our members already have.
2. doing simple Internet searches to find nationwide support services to help.
If you are interested in this role please contact Sarah Bickers Head of Membership on firstname.lastname@example.org
Communications & IT roles
APDO has a high standard when it comes to our public facing communications (newsletters, emails, website copy etc). We like to ensure constancy and professionalism throughout so we review communications against an APDO style guide before it is issued or published. We already benefit from the support of some great proof-readers but would like to spread this workload as the association grows and the volume of documentation does too.
If you are eagle eyed and can help APDO’s professional presence in this way, please contact us on email@example.com
If you would like to join us, please email the relevant board member to start a conversation.
