The APDO Board meets regularly to manage and develop the association together. Our amazing support team assist the board throughout the year and on smaller projects to drive the association forwards. Our administration team deal with all membership issues and administrative tasks for board members.
APDO Board members and the support team all give their time voluntary alongside running their own professional organising businesses.
We wouldn’t be where we are today without the dedication and enthusiasm of our volunteers since 2014. We also know we can continue to achieve great things, with your valued assistance. If you have a particular skill or background you’d like to share, do get in touch!
Volunteering with APDO brings a whole new angle to your decluttering and organising business. It often teaches you skills and knowledge that can be applied to your own business or that stretch you personally to expand as an individual.
If you’ve ever felt isolated running your (often ‘solopreneur’) endeavour then volunteering with APDO can provide that valuable connection and camaraderie reminding you that you’re part of a bigger picture! All the while you’re contributing to putting our industry firmly on the map!

Head of IT (new board position from February 2018, ongoing)
The post is available from February 2018. It is not expected that the post-holder will have extensive knowledge on all the technology areas but a willingness to learn will certainly go a long way! This role involves liaising with a number of external service providers so you need to be comfortable talking to technical teams. NB: We’ve already selected suppliers that speak in layman’s terms wherever possible and this role will inevitably gain very practical knowledge that will boost your own business in the process.

Social Media and PR roles (ongoing)
Social Media managers will post updates about APDO’s events, training courses and campaigns from APDO’s accounts to make sure the association and its members are seen by the public and press.
The Head of PR and Social Media & key board members will guide you on what needs posting but you will have responsibility for ensuring the message is published in accordance with the relevant platform’s style or requirements. You will support APDO members by liking, sharing and re-posting relevant posts on your particular platform.
There will be heightened social media activity in the run-up to our annual conference (March), Spring Clearing Week (March) and National Organising Week (November) but the Head of PR and Social Media will ensure evergreen content throughout the year for these platforms.

2018 Conference roles (15 & 16 March)
For anyone attending conference on one or both days and is willing to assist with some of the tasks onsite that make the event go smoothly we are looking for the following helping hands.

Please advise if there are particular roles you’re best suited to but we’d be grateful of your flexibility to ensure the event as a whole goes smoothly.

We are expanding the resources on the Members Hub. We would like to include a section for specialist support services (for clients & members alike) including information on a range of topics such as Lone Worker Safety, H&S matters, Mental Health, Government and Emergency Services, Hoarding, ADHD / Chronic disorganisation, Infestations etc.
We would need a volunteer (or two) to help coordinate submissions from members of any useful portals for finding support nationwide to help build this resource library.

Communications & IT roles
APDO has a high standard when it comes to our public facing communications (newsletters, emails, website copy etc). We like to ensure constancy and professionalism throughout so we review communications against an APDO style guide before it is issued or published. We already benefit from the support of some great proof-readers but would like to spread this workload as the association grows and the volume of documentation does too.
